Fratelli Rollneck Collaboration

Local Melbourne knitwear family Fratelli contacted me one day to showcase their work.

Originally, Fratelli was knitted locally here in Melbourne, Australia but like many family businesses through the 90's, they saw a drop workers and a rise in prices.

The family migrated to Australia from Italian in the 1940s bringing their mothers hand knitting skills, which inspired Owner Filippo Spoto.

Now owned and operated by Filippo's son David, they have modernised and moved forward staying active in the market with their Made in Italy garments.

Using my keen interest with classic knitwear and militaria, I designed in collaboration; a tailored fit rollneck.

The roll neck is knitted from 19.5 micron Australian Merino wool, using this gauge of yarn allows the rollneck to be worn throughout the year and layered.

A blue steel marle wool, chosen for versatility, so it is not too dark or light.

The fit of the garment is "tailored" this means it is not an oversized fit but follows the natural lines of the body. High ribbing on the bottom seam allows the rollneck to hug the body comfortably, worn tucked in or out.

We are extremely proud of this product and hope to continue building the collection in the near future.
