Definition of tone

noun

NOT THAT.....

Colour combos and tones can be a tricky task to learn. The way I started was learning the basics of a colour wheel. This helps you establish what colours blend well & what diametrically opposite colours will really play off each other. 

When it comes to tone it does get a bit more technical, but the easiest way to begin is to work off your natural tones like your hair, eyes and skin. I have dark brown hair, olive green eyes and a light olive complexion; all quite earthy tones, so I try to go for those relative tones and shades in the colours I wear. Unless you want something to really pop then you can start to mix with solid colours and shades of black and white.
