I don’t get to Sydney mush but when I have the opportunity I go for it. Last time I stayed in the city, so this time around I wanted to be more harbour side like at home back in Melbourne.

My hotel of choice? Pier One Sydney Harbour.

Pier One is part of the Autograph collection of hotels, all which are highly rated as some of the best in Australia.

As its name states it is nestled alongside the Sydney Harbour Bridge and built on and over the water.

With a mix of Federation-style and contemporary chic, the hotel celebrates Australian heritage while providing guests with extraordinary boutique accommodation.

Pier One is situated near some of Sydney’s most popular districts, like The Rocks, situated just around the corner.

The hotel’s amenities include  the  Gantry Restaurant & Bar,a conference/meeting room,  stay-in day spa and health/fitness centre.

I arrived at Pier One in the evening to a glass of champagne and a room upgrade. First impression, pretty damn good.

The receptionist was wonderful but I will say I had to take my own bags and find my room.

The room what can I say; it was amazing, bigger than my own apartment.

The downside was I had no-one to enjoy it with me but I did my best to enjoy every inch of the Harbour balcony views.

A knock at the door and I was gifted a bottle of Brut and a fruit bowl, perfect as I was quite hungry and didn’t know if I could wait until my dinner event.

As you walk into the room on the right was a powder room, followed by a walk-in wardrobe.

The bedroom was very spacious and had a king sized bed, along with a day bed next to the glass sliding door which opened up to the massive balcony.

A free standing bathtub sat in the middle of the tiled bathroom, with a generous shower on the left and toilet on the right.

In the adjacent room was a mini kitchen, dining table and a sofabed also opening out to the balcony. Did I mention the two huge LCD TV’s in both rooms?

The room was incredible, huge, comfortable and quite homely. A definite for a couple wanting to get away and spend some time away from the rest of the world.
